TN-2 Visa Under NAFTA Mexico
Upon the signing of the North American Free trade Agreement (NAFTA) qualified professionals, in a host of professions, can enter the U.S. in an expedited fashion to work in their area of expertise for US companies or Mexican companies that are engaged in projects that are U.S. based, on a temporary, nonimmigrant, but renewable basis. A bachelor's degree equivalent is generally required, along with proof of Mexican citizenship, an employment letter and a $140 TN-2 visa fee.
Applicants can only apply outside the US, by filing USCIS Form I-129, with all accompanying documentation, paying the requisite $325 filing fee and using consular processing to obtain the TN-2 entry visa. Premium processing service is available for $1225.The initial TN visa is valid for the term of employment up to 3 years. Renewals or extensions in 3 year intervals are available with another USCIS Form I-129 with a filing fee of $325 from the U.S. There are no limit to the number of extensions.
