Deferred Enforced Departure
This program is not technically an immigration category or status, but is best suited to be included as a Specialty Program for nonimmigrant purposes. Under the President's powers to partake in foreign relations he can, usually for a designated period, certain countries individuals currently in the U.S. not to be deported. If this mandate also allows them to work or travel overseas during this "safe harbor" period then that too is allowed provided they file the appropriate USCIS forms, accompanying documents and pay all required filing fees.
Currently, citizens of Liberia, under President Bush's initiative signed in October, 2007 and extended through the end of March, 2013 enjoy this benefit. Citizens of other countries may be afforded this sanctuary in the future. If this visa is for you and still available speak to us to answer your questions and direct you in the correct direction.
