EB-4 Visa, Broadcaster Green Card Program, Permanent Residency
This is a special permanent residency (green card) program for broadcasters, reporters, writers, editors, translators, producers, announcers, news broadcast host, or news analysis specialist, and does not include individuals performing purely technical or support services and is limited to 100 visas annually who are coming to the U.S. to work for the International Broadcasting Bureau of the United States Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG) or a grantee of the BBG.
Spouses and single children under 21 can accompany by derivative status but are not counted toward the 100 visa cap.
To become eligible you must have and approved USCIS form I-360, filed by the BBG or the grantee of the BBG, detailing the job title and the job to be performed and the aliens expertise including how long the alien has been performing these duties or a statement how the alien possesses these necessary skills that make him/her qualified for the position. Also, accompanying documents, biometrics and required filing fees must be included.
The term "grantee of the BBG" means Radio Free Asia, Inc. or Radio Free Europe or Radio Liberty, Inc.
After approval you will be Consular Processed overseas. Then the applicant must wait for admission to the U.S. as a fourth preference EB-4 category similar to an employment category. If you live inside the U.S. you will be able to adjust status in the U.S. by filing USCIS form I-485 with accompanying documentation and paying all required filing fees. Then, while pending, you can get a Work Authorization and an Advanced Parole (travel document).
