Border Commuter Students

Certain F-1 and M-1 Visa students who attend school in the U.S. from Canada and Mexico enjoy an exception to the requirement of full time attendance. Subject to special limitations they must attend an approved school within 75 miles of the border and maintain their foreign residence to be part time students.

Also, TN Visa holders can attend school in the U.S. without a F-1 or M-1 visa if such schooling is incidental to their TN purposes.
